Transcription: The old Senate chamber was one of the first rooms built for the Senate Assembly. The Senate moved here in 1810 and remained for 50 years until the chamber became too small to hold all the state's senators. The richly decorated chamber was modeled after amphitheaters from ancient Rome and Greece. It is a two-story semicircular chamber measuring 75 feet long and 50 feet wide. The room was destroyed by a fire as was most of the capital in 1814, as a result of the British invasion during the war. It was rebuilt and opened once again in 1819.
